What’s in the box – Eleventh Delivery of my CSA from Eagle Creek Farms

Farmer John was at our pickup last week giving us tips and tricks as to what we could do with our veggies (mainly the celery tops). Who knew that these tops could be frozen and added to stocks and soups later on? Unfortunately for us, we were on the road this week and not able to enjoy the … Continue reading

What’s in the box – Tenth Delivery of my CSA from Eagle Creek Farms

I really didn’t know what to expect at this weeks’ pickup. With summer starting to wind down…the sniffles and sneezing starting to kick in, I was really hoping to see the start of some mega loads of beets, and maybe the odd brussels sprout or two. However, Farmer John had other things in store for … Continue reading

What’s in the box – Eighth and Ninth Delivery of my CSA from Eagle Creek Farms

I dropped the ball and forgot to post last weeks’ delivery! Here she is…with this weeks’ delivery following: Some sort of summer squash, a head of lettuce, broccoli, 2 varieties of potatoes (BLUE MAC – purple skinned with creamy flesh and PROVENTO – white), carrots, fresh dill, garlic and of course a lovely sunflower. Can anyone enlighten … Continue reading

What’s in the box – Seventh Delivery of our CSA from Eagle Creek Farms (halfway through)

I took the photo in the car this week. I was afraid that if I left it until after meeting with some friends for dinner, I would have nothing to show you but badly wilted veggies. Thankfully, the car stayed relatively cool and my only casualty was my lovely sunflower. This week, we received Red Potatoes, mixed … Continue reading

What’s in the box – Sixth Delivery of our CSA from Eagle Creek Farms

Last week was a cold one. If I remember correctly, there was a wind and thunderstorm advisory/warning for the area…and let me tell you, it felt like winter was coming. Many of the vendors had packed up and left by the time I arrived to pick up my half-share. We received Kale, Red Potatoes (they are … Continue reading

What’s in the box – Fifth Delivery of our CSA from Eagle Creek Farms

It was another hot day for our 5th pickup. I was quite afraid that I wouldn’t make it in time for my pickup as the trains from downtown were delayed due to some issues with the switch. We sat in the hot, packed train (with no air conditioning – because I was on one of … Continue reading

What’s in the box – Fourth Delivery of our CSA from Eagle Creek Farms

Delivery #4 of our CSA delivery was yesterday. We were warned that this delivery would be a little smaller as the spinach was not quite ready (it’s been raining a lot). However, I was still pleasantly surprised at our haul. Potatoes, Carrots, Mixed Greens, Garlic Scapes, Horseradish, Raspberries and a glorious sunflower. I also picked up a … Continue reading

What’s in the box – Third Delivery of our CSA from Eagle Creek Farms

Our third CSA delivery was last week. I know, I know….I slacked off and I’m posting this hot on the heels of another pickup. Included in our half-share this time around was a bag of mixed greens, some purple potatoes, rainbow chard, garlic scapes, beets, radishes, baby bok choy, and a small bunch of lilies. We were suppose to get some … Continue reading

Second CSA Delivery of the year from Eagle Creek Farms

Our second CSA delivery was yesterday. Included in our half-share this time around was a bag of mixed greens, some potatoes, garlic scapes, sorrel, green onions, rainbow chard, and a small bunch of flowers. I can really get use to having such amazing tasting veggies 🙂

First CSA Delivery of the year from Eagle Creek Farms

Yum! We picked up our first CSA (Community Shared Agriculture) delivery yesterday in the crazy heat. Included in our half-share was a bag of mixed greens – looks like lettuce, arugula and spinach, some potatoes, garlic scapes, radishes, a small bunch of flowers and a pot of herbs (I loved how the herbs come ready to plant … Continue reading
