Nosh, Restaurant

On the hunt…

I can see them…across the field. Like a lioness scoping out my prey, I feel myself crouching down low, ready to pounce. Time slows down and everything becomes still. They have no idea what’s coming. Am I dreaming? Is this really happening? I pinch myself to check. Holy crap…that smarts! Yes, I’m really awake – and there are three glorious food trucks in the east village with very short lineups.

After making a mad dash to Fries & Dolls and playing “eenie meenie minnie moe” with the menu at least a dozen times, I promptly stuck both of my feet in my mouth by asking the nice gentleman in front of me what the difference between a B and D cup were. *facepalm*

Whoops! That totally didn’t come out right at all. Luckily he was a good sport about it all and after turning various shades of red, jokingly told me that it was the difference between a handful vs. more than a handful (how wasteful). He then got serious and advised that it was just the different portion sizes they offered.

The “D” cup Sophia was ordered. Seriously, when it comes to the fries from Fries & Dolls – go big or don’t go at all. After waiting rather impatiently since last weeks’ unsuccessful attempt at getting everything I wanted to eat at the food truck launch, I figured that I was totally entitled to the biggest size they had. And I was so glad that I had decided to indulge. Truffle Oil and Grana Padana Cheese served with a side of Chipotle dip was quite honestly, heaven in a biodegradable cup. These have got to be hands down, the best fries I have EVER eaten.

Seriously, how cute is this truck?!

But wait…there’s more! After being totally disappointed last week and not getting to try the tacos, I had to hit Los Compadres again. This time to taste the tacos. The tacos were good, though not as spicy as I had anticipated. Nothing that a couple of shakes of a hot sauce bottle couldn’t cure. It’s a shame though, that there is no more room in my belly for dessert. Chocolate Chai gelato would be so good right about now
🙂

About Eunice

I'm just a girl who is passionate about food. It is my personal quest to try to expand my culinary horizons both at home and abroad. However, I was not always passionate about food. I had my epiphany much later when I got my very first job...at a sushi joint here in town. And just like that "Hook, line and sinker"...a foodie was born! I'm a P/T blogger, P/T yogini...but always a foodie.
