Two times. That’s how many times I’ve eaten at JoJo’s last week.
For those of you who don’t know, JoJo’s truck can normally be found in the Barbeques Galore parking lot in the NE quadrant of our city. It really did suck to be the rest of us….until now. After much anticipation, I found out that this elusive truck was finally making the trek downtown.
And what a treat it was!
After walking twenty blocks (round trip) to Central Memorial Park…I was happy to find out that I was the first person in line. It’s not hard to find her…look for the converted camper, with the amazing smells of BBQ wafting towards you. Now some of you might be thinking that I’m a little crazy for walking twenty blocks. Heck, I’ve been known to wait 2.5 hours for a good food. My thought is that good food is worth waiting for. JoJo’s is definitely worth the wait…and besides, the exercise was my excuse for getting the oh so delicious sides.
I tried the Regular Rack o’Ribs (8 bones) with a side of the Lil’ griddle Mac N’ Cheese. It was well worth the $19. The ribs were the perfect combination of fall off the bone, smoky, and not too saucy goodness…and the mac was creamy and buttery (hands down, the best I’ve had). The ribs also came with a side of the most wonderful pickled red onion. Can you say flavour overload?
The second day, I saw that JoJo’s was going to be a located a little closer to the office. I ended up grabbing a couple of colleagues and walked along the scenic river walkway to YYC’s East Village where JoJo’s was parked alongside BlamWich and AlleyBurger. She immediately recognized me (is this a bad thing?) and asked if she was located closer this time around. How crazy is that?! I ended up trying out her amazing “Fire N’Smoke” Sloppy JoJo’s sandwich with garlic mayo and freshly sliced Jalapenos (the special)…and also a side of the BBQ-tine for round number two. For $16, it was a lot of food! I also ended up snagging a corn fritter to taste test from one of my co-workers…and it was super delightful. Next time, I may need to get a couple of orders 🙂
Seriously, you need to check it out. The menu board is shown below. You can find JoJo on twitter (@JoJosBBQ) for her latest location…or at JoJo’s BBQ. Go already!
